FOR PATIENTS


FIRST APPOINTMENT-EXAMINATION ROUTINES

  • Detailed examination of all teeth, gums and bite relations,two or more X-ray pictures.
  • Concrements (tartar) removal and tooth polishing - if needed and at patients’ will.
  • A potential patient can get a treatment plan and written costs overview / estimation. Written costs overview can sometimes differ from real costs after the finished treatment (usually deviation can be approx. 15%).
  • A potential patient receives important information about oral hygiene and preventive / prophylactic procedures.
  • All potential patients are offered to be registered in our recall system. Recall patients get regular maintenance of the teeth / mouth with eventually small reparations if needed.

Recall interval vary from 6-12 months, depending on the need.

TREATMENT OF THE GUM DISEASE (PERIODONTITIS) – CLINICAL ROUTINES

  • First appointment – gums examination combined with several X-rays. Planning of the systematic treatment, detailed information and instructions about prognosis and oral hygiene. Patient gets necessary information about the state based refundable possibilities for this kind of treatment.
  • Second, third, fourth appointment etc. – local anesthesia, detailed removal of the concrements (tartar) and inflammation from the teeth and gums. After approx. one month the same procedure needs to be done one more time (usually this time the procedure is less advanced then the first time).
  • Last check-up - one month after. Some X-rays may be essential. If periodontitis is not totally cured, the patient will be referred to the specialist for gum diseases the so-called periodontist. Periodontists usually do advanced procedures related to gum diseases, for example surgical procedures on gums. Specialist gum treatments are also refunded by the states HELFO office.

PROSTHODONTIC PROSTHESIS – CLINICAL ROUTINES

Partial (skeletal) prosthesis

  • 1. Appointment - prosthodontic examination and jaw impressions that will be sent to dental technician
  • 2. Appointment - bite registration, skeletal prosthesis construction must be tried and fitted, registration of the tooth color. Collected info and fitted metal skelet will be sent to dental technician again for final production
  • 3. Appointment - patient receives prosthesis and essential using instructions

*the whole procedure lasts approx. 4 weeks. In some simple situations everything can be done in 2 appointments


Total prosthesis

  • 1. Appointment - prosthodontic examination, preliminary impression will be taken and sent to the dental technician
  • 2. Appointment - second (individual) impression will be taken and sent to the dental technician
  • 3. Appointment - registration of the bite and jaws relations. It will be sent to the dental technician
  • 4. Appointment – preliminary fitting of the tooth and bite control. In this phase patient can estimate tooth color and teeth position. Now teeth will be sent to dental technician for definitive production
  • 5. Appointment - patient receives prosthesis and essential using instructions

*the whole procedure lasts approx. 6 weeks. In some simple situations everything can be done in 3 or 4 appointments

ROOT FILLING-CLINICAL ROUTINES

Patient with toothache (pain):

  • short examination and some x-rays, anesthesia (injection) applies
  • settes bedøvelse
  • emergency dental help-dentist opens the tooth, places “medicine” and temporary filling into the tooth. Usually, after this procedure, toothache disappears, but in some situations dentist has to apply medication (antibiotics, painkillers etc.)
  • the rest of the root treatment will be finished in few appointments depending on root anatomy, tooth position, complexity level etc.

Patient without toothache (pain):

  • short examination and some x-rays, anesthesia (injection) applies
  • dentist opens tooth, root canals are widened and cleaned, some X-rays are taken during the treatment, bactericide temporary root filling is placed in the root canals, and temporary filling on the top of the tooth
  • the rest of the root treatment will be finished in few appointments depending on root anatomy, tooth position, complexity level etc.

ORTHODONTICS CLINICAL ROUTINES

Orthodontic routines-invisible orthodontic

  • First appointment - first consultation - examination and conclusion about the main orthodontic problem and patients’ wishes-patient receives rough information about treatment alternatives. Patient doesn’t receive definitive and detailed plan. F Y A sometimes definitive treatment plan (presented on second, third appointment) can differ from the groove information. Definitive treatment plan is the result of the detailed analyses of the cast models, X-rays and photos
  • Second appointment - patients’ records (collecting the essential documentation)-dental arch impressions, production of the cast models, X-rays, photos
  • Third appointment - treatment plan presentation, retaking of the dental impressions for production of the invisible (lingual) appliances. It takes approx. 5 weeks for production of the appliance
  • Fourth appointment - insertion of the appliance - treatment starts

Orthodontic routines-visible orthodontic

  • First appointment - first consultation-examination and conclusion about the main orthodontic problem and patients’ wishes-patient receives groove information about treatment alternatives. Patient doesn’t receive definitive and detailed plan. OBS. Attn. Sometimes definitive treatment plan (presented on second, third appointment) can differ from the groove information. Definitive treatment plan is a result of the detailed analyses of the cast models, X-rays and photos
  • Second appointment - patients records (collecting the essential documentation) - dental arch impressions, production of the cast models, X-rays, photos
  • Third appointment - treatment plan presentation
  • Fourth appointment - insertion of the appliance-treatment starts
